Yay! Ally opened up a little.

Well looks like today was the day for talking, Ally finally said something to me about her feelings and it’s positive.

“As far as your changes go, they will happen over some time, so we will talk about it as needed, but please keep me informed of any other decisions, even if you don’t let me take part in the decision itself. I want to be a part of the process.”

I can’t ask for better than that, I do love Ally so much.

Problems for today, are few but they are there. This morning I learned that Gavin, Jesse, Steve and Craig are all going to AusCERT this year and of course they do not know. I spoke to Gavin quietly as initially I didn’t know who was going and told him about the revelations of the last few days, and that I was concerned how some might react should they see me in a skirt at AusCERT (yes it’s a real possibility). Gavin understood and later told me who was going, I emailed HR and got no reply, so I decided to speak to them individually myself

Steve was positive in his response, he said, “I’d have never have picked it with you”, but as I said, I hid my real self from the world for 39 years, so it’s not all that surprising. Steve has been really good he indicated that I could talk to him if I wanted, and he was completely happy with the idea.

Jesse on the other hand I am concerned about, he just went quiet, and didn’t seem to know how to react. I told him it was ok to be shocked, surprised, if he wanted counseling or anyone to talk to, I was here, HR knew and already indicated they would provide etc. He shrugged and said, ‘Ok’, and not much else. I do hope Jesse is ok with it really, because some of the team do look to him for life guidance, and he and I have had plenty of laughs at work.

I didn’t speak to Craig, as I’m unsure of how he will react.
